Weaver tied 17th in Brabazon Trophy

The English Men’s Open Stroke play Championship (Brabazon) was held 19-22nd May at Saunton Golf Club on the East course. It is a 72 hole event with a cut made after 36 holes, the top 60 players and ties progressing to play the final 36 holes.

Qualifying for the event was held earlier in the month and unfortunately Alfie Halil, Dan Nicholls, Danny Western and Max Weaver failed to reach the final. Tyler Weaver and Monty Scowsill were in the draw having been exempt from qualifying. Monty missed the cut carding 73 & 77 for 150- 6 over par.

Tyler shot 69,76 for 145 qualifying in 28th place. He added 73 & 71 to finish on 5 over par 289 -tied 17th. In the George Henriques Salver, awarded to the best placed GB & I player under the age of 20, Tyler finished tied 2nd, 1 shot behind Elliot Baker, Tiverton.

The Winner of the Brabazon Trophy was Christiaan Maas (Pretoria) who shot 65,70,67,68 for a 14 under par total of 270
