Under 18 League Norfolk and Bedfordshire

The Suffolk Junior U18 county golf squad played their 2nd SEG league match on the 11th of July at Fynn Valley Golf Club. This was a must win situation for Suffolk who needed to take maximum points.

With the recent rains the course was very green and lush and despite some very tricky pins if you stayed out of the rough it was very scoreable. The tight layout should have put Suffolk at a big advantage where local course knowledge could prove key.

However, Bedfordshire fielded a very experienced side who thought there way around and for the second match in a row took a clean sweep beating both Suffolk and Norfolk.

Suffolk beat Norfolk to retain 2nd place in the league overall but this now puts Bedfordshire in an almost unattainable position.

Callum Hughes put in a very strong performance and battled hard on the back nine to be the only Suffolk player to score a maximum 2 points – a great performance. Reuben Harvey narrowly missed out on winning both matches with a win against Norfolk and a half against Bedfordshire with his game coming down to the last hole. Harry Brinded put in another solid and mature performance and secured the only other point against Bedfordshire.
