STENSON SEMI-FINALS GO TO THE FORM TEAMS

Felixstowe Ferry, the defending champions, continued their defence at the semi-final stage against Southwold kindly hosted by Hintlesham Golf Club.

The morning foursomes went largely the way of Felixstowe with 3 good wins. Southwold’s James Sadler and Russell Palmer were 4 up at one stage but a determined fightback by Rhodri Harston and Will Pearce saw the match finish all square. Palmer continued his good form in the afternoon singles but Felixstowe Ferry were relentless leaving the final score 10 – 2 in their favour and a place in the final on September 13th.

The second semi-final was at Halesworth Golf where Woodbridge were playing Diss.

There was a similar score line in the morning foursomes of Woodbridge 3.5 Diss 0.5. A special mention to Tony Osborn who holed a 12 ft putt on the 18th to obtain a half after his opponent had holed from much further away!

The front singles match in the afternoon saw a fine performance from Taylor Crisp who had 7 birdies and 4 pars in his 9 & 7 victory and for the record his opponent played well! Next up saw a win for the experienced Chris Bartrum however there after there were a succession of points for Woodbridge with the score ending Woodbridge 9 Diss 3.

The final will be held on Saturday 13th September. With last years winners in the final again the final will be hosted by Bury St Edmunds.
