Skevington Salver and Bagshaw Trophy

Skevington Salver and Bagshaw Trophy

Suffolk Under 16 team competed in the Skevington Salver and Bob Bagshaw Trophy at Cainhoe Wood (formerly Beadlow Manor) Golf Club in Bedfordshire. Four counties took part, Bedfordshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.

The boys play 27 holes and the winner of the Skevington Salver is the player with the best gross score over the 27 holes and the Bob Bagshaw trophy is won by the team with the best three gross scores plus the best three nett scores (no player’s score can count for both gross and nett).

The Skevington Salver was won by Harry Flynn (Essex) with a score of 104. The Bob Bagshaw trophy was won by Essex with a score of 644. Bedfordshire were second with 688, Suffolk third with 709 and Norfolk fourth with 714.

The highlight for Suffolk was Mackenzie Bacon (Aldeburgh) winning the prize for the best nett score with a score of 100. This was his first appearance in a Suffolk team and reduced his handicap index from 15.9 to15.0.
