Felixstowe Ferry make a strong start to their defence of the Stenson Shield

Saturday saw the opening round of the Stenson Shield with just 4 matches to be played as Diss received a bye. Felixstowe Ferry opened up against Flempton and completed a comfortable victory. There was a similar result at Woodbridge who defeated Bungay. Ipswich went to Thorpeness for a tough looking match but came away with an 8 – 4 victory. Perhaps the tie of the round was at Rookery Park. They held a 3 – 1 lead after the foursomes but the Aldeburgh side rallied in the afternoon singles to complete a 7 – 5 victory.
