Sufolk 3rd in EG County Qualifier

The South East County Qualifier was held at Bury St Edmunds Golf Club on Saturday 9th July. 11 Counties attempting to qualify for the EG County Final to be held at Royal Norwich Golf Club 23-25th September.

Suffolk led the way after 18 holes, their best 5 combined scores totaling 9 under par from Sussex on 8, Surrey on 7 and Hampshire 4. Teddy Hall (Bury St Edmunds) and Patrick Spraggs (Aldeburgh) both returning 3 under par 69’s, Max Weaver (Bury St Edmunds) a 2 under 70. Gregor Tait (Aldeburgh) 1 under 71 and George Fricker (Woodbridge a level par 72.

In the afternoon Hall added a 4 under par 68,Tait a 3 under par 69, Weaver a 71 Craig Nurse (Bury St Edmunds) 73 and Fricker 75 leaving them on a creditable 13 under par for the day.

Sussex however managed to return an afternoon total of 7 under par thanks to a 65, 7 under, from Joe Sullivan who took the individual title with an 11 under total of 133, which took them to 15 under for the competition and which seemed likely to be the winning score until the final group finished  with Surrey’s Ben Partridge returning a 6 under par 66 giving his team a total of 18 under par.

Surrey will now represent the South East Group at Royal Norwich.
