Stephen Crosby is Suffolk Seniors Champion

The 2021 Suffolk Seniors Championship was held over 18 holes at Diss Golf Club on Tuesday 22nd June. 42 competitors took part.

The course played difficult with the rough penalizing. However, there were good scores submitted by Steve Mann (Woodbridge) 74, and 73’s from John Newsome and James O’Doherty (both Stowmarket) who looked like having to play extra holes to claim the title. In the event that was not necessary as Stephen Crosby (Gorleston) returned a 72 

Stephen will now represent Suffolk at the England Golf Senior Champion of Champions Tournament which will be played at Woodhall Spa Golf Club (Hotchkin course) over the weekend of the 11/12th September.

Woodbridge Golf Club retained the Michael Thomas Trophy ( Steve Mann 74, Adrian Studd 77 and Stephen Whymark 78) finishing 3 shots clear of Stowmarket.

Dave Bloom (Felixstowe Ferry) was the winner of the 55-61 age group with a nett 71 from Steed Hubbard (Gorleston) 73. The 62-69 age group was won by David Hughes (Woodbridge) with a nett 73 from Roger Taylor (Aldeburgh) nett 75 whilst the 70+ age group went to Graham Smith (Bury St Edmunds) with 71 from Tom Collett (Stowmarket) 76
