Anglian League Match-day 4

After an underwhelming league campaign so far it was crucial that Suffolk made a bit of a mends when local rivals Norfolk crossed the boarder.  The first team hosted their match at Halesworth Golf Club whilst the second team travelled to Wensum Valley.

The morning foursomes went well for both sides. The first team took a 3-1 advantage into the afternoon whilst the second team would find themselves 2.5-1.5 up at the same stage.

At Halesworth, Gregor Tait lead from the top, going out first and completing a commanding 5&4 victory against Norfolks top player. Suffolks number 2, Reuben Harvey had a tough match finding himself 4 down through 6 holes. Never doubting himself though, Reuben spent his afternoon turning the game around winning it on the 18th. The points then came think and fast for Suffolk. Jack Cardy, Josh Robertson and Harry Brinded all winning their matches. Next up was Alex Mair, winner of Friday’s elite medal, capping off a perfect debut with a 2&1 win. Jimmy Price then won his match and finally Taylor Crisp did also. We will have to check the archives to see if Suffolk have ever had a bigger win than 11-1.

Meanwhile at Wensum Valley it seemed a bit tighter with experienced players, James Tyler and Russell Oakey going down in tight games. However, wins from Adam Sheldrake, Daniel Hedges and Mark Fosker gave the travelling Suffolk side the ascendancy again. With 3 games left on the golf course Suffolk needed just one point and it was Connor Talbot who delivered it with a birdie on the last hole. A fabulous away win topping off an extremely successful weekend for Suffolk Golf.
