SEG Under 16 League (Norfolk and Essex)
Suffolk played their 1st South East Group Under 16 League match against Norfolk and Essex at Dunstan Hall Golf Club on Saturday 1st June. 4 Suffolk players were making their debut.
Suffolk beat Norfolk by 6.5 to 1.5, however, the game against Essex was much closer with the result hanging on the outcome of the last match. Suffolk’s Ben Newman was 1 down playing the 18th hole, a 190 yard par 3 over water. Newman’s tee shot found the bunker at the back of the green, however he played out to 12 feet and holed his put for a par 3 leaving his opponent to hole from 10 feet to win the match which he duly managed.
All Suffolk’s players contributed at least half a point , George Austin won both his matches as did Captain, Charlie Little, however the stand out performance of the day came from Dominic Rudd who won his matches 8 & 6 and 6 & 5.
