Adams 6th in Lagonda

The Lagonda Trophy one of the country’s leading men’s amateur events, attracting world ranking points, was held at Gog Magog Golf Club, Cambridge, on the 22/23rd May.
The format is 72 holes of stroke play, a cut is made after 36 holes with the top 40 players progressing to the final 36 holes. Past winners of the trophy include Andy Sullivan, Luke Donald and Lee Westwood. The competition is played over the par 70 Old Course.
4 Suffolk players entered the event,Sam Byford (Ipswich) failed to make the cut.Jed Seeley (Newton Green) shot 75,71,78,73 for a 17 over par total of 297 and 37th place. Alfie Halil (Flempton) had rounds of 69,73,73, 72 for a 7 over par total of 287 and 26th place.
Max Adams (Bury St Edmunds), one of only 2 juniors in the field, finished in 6th place with rounds of 71,65,73,69 for a 2 under total of 278. A superb performance with only 9 players under par for the tournament.
The trophy went to Liam Phipps (Olton) with an 8 under par total of 272.
