ENCOURAGING START FOR U16S LEAGUE CAMPAIGN

Management due Jim Harrison and Paddy Lockwood had high hopes for the group of u16s this campaign and they were pleased with the outcome and effort put in during the first round of matches. To be able to play this fixture at Royal Worlington and Newmarket was fantastic for all the players from Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk and the course was in great nick to test the skills.

Norfolk lost 1 – 7 against a strong Essex side with the highest handicap of 3. Suffolk and Essex had a great tussle with the points eventually going to Essex despite a good position for Suffolk after 9 holes with the score 5 – 3 to Essex. Suffolk got the better of Norfolk by 5.5 to 2.5. In no small way a mention for Henry Ridgeon who was 4 down with only a few holes to play and won the last 4 to win 1 up. There were strong performances from Jack Sparrow, Charlie Langdon, Patrick Coffey and Bailee Taylor but it was a well done to all day.

It merely remains to thank Royal Worlington and Newmarket for their generous hospitality and the author enjoyed the cake at the end.
