Bungay & Waveney Valley win Golf 6’s

The final of the Suffolk Junior Golf Sixes took place at Halesworth Golf Club. Five clubs qualified for the final from three divisions across the county: – Bury St Edmunds, Ufford Park, Seckford, Bungay and Rookery Park. Each team has six players who play Texas Scramble in pairs for six holes of approximately 150 yards. Points are awarded on each hole with 10 points for holing out in 1 shot, 9 points for holing out in 2 shots, down to 1 point for holing out in 10 shots. Players must have a handicap index in excess of 36, or no handicap index at all.

The match was keenly contested with some excellent golf played and the players were well supported by parents, relatives and club members. Bungay were the winners and the recipients of the Roger Wright Trophy. Bury St Edmunds were in second place. Players from both clubs received medals.

The Golf Foundation and the Suffolk Golf Union support the Golf Sixes and the trophy and funding has been provided by former members of Waldringfield Golf Club, thanks to a legacy from the late Roger Wright. The trophy was presented by former Waldringfield member, Mike Western.
