UP AND DOWN AGAIN FOR THE MEN

UP AND DOWN AGAIN FOR THE MEN

Suffolk Second Team

Anglian league fixture number four saw a challenge from Northamptonshire. The first team were home at Hintlesham Golf Club whilst the seconds went to Northamptonshire County Golf Club with a chance still to win the league.

For the first team it was a tricky morning. A point for Will Wright and Reuben Harvey plus half a point for Connor Talbot and Russell Oakey meant there was a fighting chance. In the afternoon singles, the fight wasn’t quite enough. Taylor Crisp, Sam Renville and Reuben Harvey got wins whilst Will Wright added a half but that was that. A good win for the traveling side but the first team have some work to do.

Much better things, however, were occurring for Suffolk away from home. The second team had made it to lunch 2-2 with solid wins for Adam Sheldrake and Jimmy Price plus Adam Golding and Marc Duszynski. To keep their hopes of league victory alive Suffolk now needed 4.5 points from a possible 8. Dominic Rudd got Suffolk’s first point on the board with a strong 6&5 win. The two Adams, Sheldrake and Golding, both won on the last to be 100% on the day. Dan Hedges was next in, he won his match 5&4. This left only Marc Duszynski out on the course. Marc needed just a half and with short pressure putt on the last, that’s exactly what he got.

Well played to the second team.
