Tom Finn Trophy

Tom Finn Trophy

Suffolk County Golf Under 16’s played for the Tom Finn Trophy on Sunday 28th July against Leicestershire & Rutland and Cambridgeshire at Aldeburgh Golf Club. Suffolk entered the match as three times defending champions in this triangular matchplay competition.

Aldeburgh was in fantastic condition but playing conditions extremely tough with anything straying into the long rough almost guaranteeing a loss of hole. Coupled with a stout wind it proved to be a challenging, but fair, test. The standard of golf was incredibly high throughout the day and it was a very close match from start to finish.

Cambridgeshire proved to be the stronger team in the end winning by just half a point. Mr Tom Finn himself was on hand to present the trophy to victorious Cambridgeshire. A huge thanks as always to Tom who continues to support this great competition.

Joe Ford, Harry Tibble, Alex Kennedy Boath and George Austin scored maximum points for Suffolk. This means that George is the only player to have scored maximum points in all his games so far this season. Alex made his Under 16 County debut today and looked calm and composed throughout- a great first appearance. Dominic Rudd continued to put in a solid performance for the County scoring 1 point.

The final scores- Cambridgeshire 11 points, Suffolk 10.5 points and Leicestershire & Rutland 8.5 points
