English Boys Under 18 Stroke play Championship (Carris Trophy)

The English Boys Under 18 Stroke Play Championship was held at Moor Park Golf Club 23-26 July. Three Suffolk boys were among the 144 competitors. The event is played over 72 holes with a cut made after 36, the top 60 +ties progressing to the final 36 holes.

The cut fell at 150 -6 over par. Unfortunately Alfie Halil (Flempton) missed out by 1 shot after rounds of 74-77 for a 7 over par total of 151. George Fricker (Woodbridge) also missed the cut after rounds of 78-83 for a 17 over par total of 161.

Max Adams ( Bury St Edmunds) progressed to the final 36 holes after carding rounds of 74-74. He added 81 in round 3 but subsequently withdrew, owing to a family bereavement, in Round 4.

The Championship was won by Ben Schmidt, (Rotherham) who defeated Rodrigo Martin (Spain) at the 1st extra hole in a playoff , both players finishing on 283 -5 under par.
