Suffolk Under 12’s v Norfolk and Cambridgeshire

Suffolk Under 12’s v Norfolk and Cambridgeshire

An under 12 team played at Seckford with Norfolk and Cambs on Sunday 29th August.. They played 10 holes greensomes and 8 holes singles matchplay.

There was a considerable variation of handicaps ranging from 8 (Cambs) to no WHS handicap (Suffolk x 2 and Norfolk x 3).  Parents walked with the groups and most of them recorded the scores for the boys and Mary Stevenson kindly fathomed out who had won each hole once the cards were handed in, taking the handicaps into account. Those without were given 54.

We finished up with a result of Cambs winning the greensomes and Suffolk winning the singles. But it wasn’t about winners and losers, it was more about getting young lads to play with boys they hadn’t met before, in a mildly competitive environment and representing their county – many for the first time.

Our boys accredited themselves very well – perfect behaviour, some decent golf at times and played with a smile on their faces.

Suffolk were represented by Charlie Langdon, James Sadler, Johnathan Points, Finlay Edwards, Reece Edwards, Michael Kirk, Lucas Bond and Rory Tilbrook.
