STENSON SHIELD SURVIVES THE WEATHER

There were no reports of good weather for the 8 matches played on Saturday though it was surprising that a number of more senior in age players did remark on the number of younger colleagues and opponents without waterproofs. 3 ties were won by the smallest of margins (6.5 to 5.5). This saw wins for Fynn Valley and Hintlesham and more notably Ipswich playing at Halesworth. Holders Woodbridge were defeated at home by Felixstowe Ferry which sets up a great looking match at Aldeburgh in the next round. There were also home wins for Diss, Gorleston and Newton Green. The next round will be played on 12th August.
