OUR TEAMS AT THE READY

OUR TEAMS AT THE READY

There is a spring in the step of Suffolk golf. The golf union is under new presidency, the teams have finished their winter training and prepare for league action whilst our first championship is just around the corner.

This month Martin Youngs finished his time in what was an excellent presidency. Martins, love for golf and passion for the county was infectious for all and his mark has been well imprinted. Martins parting gift was our new president, Charlie Wilderspin. Charlie has years of experience within our county golf set up as former long term secretary so he is supremely qualified to take us forward again. As we roll into the season we are excited to be in Charlies safe hands.

Mens Winter Training

The mens teams are looking strong as the prepare for their opening fixtures against defending champions Lincolnshire. Felixstowe will be hosting the first team whilst the seconds travel to Sleaford golf club. The lincs golf experience will prepare the first team well for the trip to Seacroft soon after where they compete for the Eastern inter counties foursomes, a real stellar event.

Sunday 28th April is the date of this years first championship. The Amateur Foursomes takes place at Gorleston Golf Club and is sure to b competitive. Last years Champions Will Wright and Jack Cardy have teamed up again in an effort to defend their title but after last years three team play off and a strong field forming they know they’ll have their work cut out.
