Keith Bass Trophy

Keith Bass Trophy

On Tuesday the 20th of August the Suffolk County Golf U14 boys team headed to Five Lakes Golf Course to take part in the 2019 Keith Bass Trophy. The trophy is contented over 27 holes of stroke play against Norfolk, Essex and Bedfordshire with the best 3 gross scores being added to the best 3 nett scores.

Home team Essex were strong favorites heading into the match and fielded a very strong side with all but one player a having a single figure handicap. They played true to form and put in a very strong performance to come out top overall. Suffolk narrowly missed out on the 2nd spot to Bedfordshire by just 1.5 points and Norfolk came in 4th.

The lowest 27 holes for the day was a very impressive 111 from Essex’s Marley Read. Marley shot 2 over gross for the morning 9 holes followed by 1 over gross for the afternoon 18 holes to finish just 3 over for the day.

There was some good nett scores from the Suffolk players with Callum Pearce and Reuben Harvey posting solid scores. Best of the day for the county was Charlie Goodridge who shot just 0.5 over handicap for 27 holes. For the gross scores Harry Brinded led the way for Suffolk and was tied 5th overall at lunch. After a disappointing front nine in the afternoon Harry battled back really hard and climbed his way back up the leaderboard to finish a very respectful 11th overall.

Final scores-Essex: 672.5, Bedfordshire: 726, Suffolk: 727.5, Norfolk: 733
