Suffolk Amateur Foursomes 2025

This time last year we stood at Gorleston Golf Club in driving rain and high winds whilst the best of Suffolk battled it out to become the Amateur Foursomes Champions. Quite the contrast this year, as beautiful sunshine and no wind greeted our competitors at Bungay and Waveney Valley Golf Club.

The characterful heathland proved tricky and provided a real test all day. After the morning the best score submitted was +3. The co-leaders were the 2023 champions Jack Cardy and Will Wright alongside Alan Henry and Peter Revell who happened to also be leading at this stage last year.

There was a strong chasing pack including defending champions Butcher and Leauty, an experienced pair in Price and Harston and then established county pairings such as Robertson/Crisp and Renville/Oakey.

Revell and Henry both played superb golf in the afternoon holing some excellent putts at the right moments. A 35 footer being drained on the 16th was the nail in the coffin for chasing pack and the Cardy/Wright pairing who’d by this time had had their own little wobble.

Valiant afternoon displays from Bartrum/Osborn and Stammers/Talbot produced good finishes but Revell and Henry were just too strong around their home course shooting +5 through 36 holes. Congratulations to them both.

The Junior first prize went to Patrick Coffey and Bailey Taylor with a pair of 76s. Phil Smailes and Simon Goldsmith took the seniors first prize with 75 & 79.

It was a great day at Bungay Golf Club organised exceptionally as ever and great thanks must go to all involved in the running of the event. Thanks to all who played and supported it.
