Harvey and Neenan win Suffolk Amateur Foursomes

The Suffolk Amateur Foursomes Championship was held at Haverhill Golf Club on Sunday 17th April. 38 pairs took part.

The morning round saw the junior pairing of Rueben Harvey (Southwold) and Sid Neenan (Aldeburgh) return a one over par 71 to lead by 1 shot from home players Harvey Bavester & Richard Boyles with Russell Oakey & Adam Woodhead (Bury St Edmunds) and Rhodri Hartson (Felixstowe Ferry) and James Tyler (Ipswich) a further 2 shots behind on 74. Ben Coleman & Dan Smailes (Bury St Edmunds) and Andrew Moore & George Osborn (Diss) carded 75’s.

Despite carding a 77 in the afternoon Bavester & Boyles claimed 3rd place with a total of 149, Coleman & Smailes returned the best afternoon score of 72 to take 2nd place on 147 winning the Watts Salvers, whilst Harvey & Neenan’s 75 was sufficient  to see them take the title and receive the McCleod Cup  on a total of 146.

Harvey& Neenan were also the Junior winners. Gary Robinson & Adrian Studd (Woodbridge) took the seniors prizes with 82-81-163.. Moore & Osborn were the handicap winners with 75-82-157 (143 nett) Oakey & Woodhead the morning scratch winners with 74 with the afternoon scratch winners Sam Debenham & Jason Finch (Hintlesham/Woodbridge) also with 74.
