Felixstowe Ferry retain the Stenson Shield

The final of the Stenson Shield between Felixstowe Ferry, the holders, and Aldeburgh took place at Halesworth Golf Club on Saturday 2nd October. Conditions were difficult and at one point it seemed doubtful that the match would be completed. However, the course stood up well to the heavy rain although it was necessary for the match referee, Mike Rees, to clear water off some of the greens to enable a result to be achieved.

The morning foursomes saw the teams level at 2-2. However Felixstowe Ferry won 4 of the afternoon singles, halving a further 2, to win the match 7-5 and retain the Shield
