English Amateur Championship

The English Amateur Championship was played at Lindrick and Worksop Golf Clubs 26-31st July.Initially competitors played 18 holes on each of the courses with the top 64 progressing to the match play stage of the competition. The cut fell at 145, 2 over par.

3 Suffolk players took part with both Dan Nicholls (Felixstowe Ferry) and Alfie Halil (Flempton) failing narrowly. Nicholls shot 77-69 for 3 over par 146, Halil carded 72-73 for 145 on the cut mark, however, he was beaten on count back for the final place.Tyler Weaver (Bury St Edmunds qualified in 24th place after rounds of 71 and 70 for 141.

Tyler went on to beat Matthew Lever (Bolton) 1 up, Freddie Parlby (Hallowes) 1 up and Carter Rowe (Chelmsford) 2 & 1 before losing in his quarter final match to George Ash (Hallowes) 2 & 1.
