DISAPPOINTING START TO SENIORS LEAGUE CAMPAIGN

DISAPPOINTING START TO SENIORS LEAGUE CAMPAIGN

The Suffolk Seniors got their league campaign underway with a visit to Northamptonshire. Captain Steven Duffety had his preparations hampered by health and injury issues and faced a strong side from Northamptonshire. The only reward in the foursomes was a win for Simon Goldsmith and James O’Doherty and fighting half from Steven Duffety and Graham Sykes. The afternoon singles saw some competitive matches with wins for captain Duffety and Simon Bearman and a half for O’Doherty in an 11 – 4 win for Northamptonshire.

A few days later the seniors visited West Herts GC for a friendly against Hertfordshire. Former member there, James O’Doherty continued his good form with 8 birdies in his win. Also winning was Paul Buckle, Chris Philips and vital point from last man Peter Revell. There were halves for Graham Sykes and Peter Brady as the match finished drawn at 5 – 5.
