Bungay & Waveney Valley achieve victory in the Suffolk Junior Club Championship.

The final of the Junior Team Championship was played at Diss Golf Club on Saturday afternoon. The two teams from Bungay & Waveney Valley and Woodbridge Golf Clubs met in the final having successfully come through their respective stages, which began late last year. The match was played on the excellent Diss golf course which looked to be in very good condition, made more challenging in the difficult westerly wind. The format being; teams of three, Stableford scoring, with the total points taking the win.

Woodbridge were seeking a long awaited victory after being in the runners up spot a few times over recent years, with team members Patrick Coffey, David Coffey and Finlay Snowdon.

However, it was Bungay & Waveney Valley who took the honours with a 99 to 84 point victory, with strong performances from all of their three players; Izzy McDonald, Abi Hope and Alex Turner. They have played consistently very well throughout the long campaign and have secured yet another big win for their Golf Club which has seen much success over the last year or two.

This young team now go on to represent Suffolk in the English Junior Champion Club, to be held at Spalding Golf Club in August – we all wish them all the very best of luck!
