Boys Anglian League Final

Suffolk boys went down by 7 – 5  to a strong Northamptonshire team at Bungay and Waveney Valley Golf Club in the final of the Junior Anglian League. Despite being a small county, Northamptonshire has reached the national final of the England Golf Junior Team Championship by winning the Midland Group qualifying event and were formidable opposition.

The teams were level at 2 – 2 after the morning foursomes, but Northamptonshire had the edge in the singles, winning four matches and halving two.

George Fricker maintained his impressive record of not losing a match all season and Reegan Marshall continued the form that won him third place in the Suffolk Open Championship by winning his match. Had the two halved matches gone Suffolk’s way the match would have gone to a play off, such is the narrow margin between victory and defeat.
