ANGLIAN LEAGUE

The Seniors compete in the East Anglian Seniors league – a scratch matchplay league which contains Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire. They also have an annual fixtures vs Kent, Hertfordshire and Essex and well as compete in the England Seniors County Championship, the Sountern Counties Foursomes and a triangular match vs Norfolk and Cambridge.

Suffolk Seniors Championship

(The Geoffrey Barnard Trophy)

 

The Suffolk Seniors Championship is an 18 hole singles scratch event normally played in June each year. Any player who is a member of a club affiliated to the Suffolk Golf Union, is over the age of 55, and who holds a handicap index as required under the competition entry requirements can enter. A handicap ballot is held if entry is over subscribed.

The winner is the player who returns the lowest scratch score over 18 holes. There are prizes awarded in various age categories.

Suffolk Seniors Matchplay

(The Platten Salver)

 

The Suffolk Seniors Matchplay Championship is contested by the top 16 qualifying players from the Suffolk Seniors Championship. If any player who finishes in the top 16 is uable to participate his place will be offered to the next highest placed player in the strokeplay championship. The matchplay draw is seeded with the highest placed qualifer playing the lowest placed qualifier, with the top 8 places seeded to have a home draw. Round one to be played during the month of July and Round 2 to be played during the month of August. Both semi-finals and final will be played on the the Suffolk Matchplay Finals day, normally a Sunday in September.

Should a Senior qualify for both the Presidents Mashie and the Seniors Matchplay Championship Semi-Finals the Presidents Mashie will take precedence.
