Suffolk Under 16/18’s Coaching
The final SGU junior coaching session for Under 18 and Under 16 players has been held at Aldeburgh Golf Club. Twenty-seven boys attended, with seven members of the squads being unavailable. The boys received presentations on preparing for competitions, statistics on putting, and competencies needed to become the best they can be from PGA professionals, Keith Preston, Lawrence Dodd and Sam Forgan.
The presentations were followed by participation in skills tests of putting, chipping and pitching. The boys have taken part in various skills tests throughout the winter coaching sessions for which they had been scored. The scores, together with the scores attained in the final session, were collated to decide winners in the two age groups.
Dominic Rudd (Woodbridge) was the Under 18 winner and George Swallow (Halsworth) was the Under 16 winner. Both received a prize of golf balls and a hat.
Junior Team Manager, Jim Harrison, announced the team Captains for the 2023 season. Reuben Harvey (Aldeburgh) will be the Under 18 team captain and the Under 16 team will be captained by Kane Russell (Haverhill).
