Mixed results for opening Anglian League Matches

Suffolk played their opening Anglian League match against Norfolk at Bawburgh Golf Club on Sunday 8th May.

They led 2.5 to 1.5 after the morning foursomes with wins from Teddy Hall and Ben Sayers and Alfie Halil and Dan Nicholls, who on his debut achieved a hole in one on the short par 3 2nd. Max Weaver and Jack Cardy halved.

In the afternoon singles only Hall and Nicholls managed wins with Spraggs halving leaving Norfolk the winners by 7-5

The 2nd team were playing Norfolk 2nds at Diss.

All pairings won their games in the morning foursomes, Suffolk establishing a 4-0 lead.

Despite losing 5 of the afternoon singles Suffolk hung on the win 7-5, their afternoon points coming from Ian Brown, Josh Driver and Captain, James Tyler.

Results – (Suffolk 1sts) Foursomes- Teddy Hall & Ben Sayers beat Warren Bates & Ben Terry 1 up, Alfie Halil & Dan Nicholls beat Simon Clark & Chris White 4 & 3, Will Wright & Patrick Spraggs lost to Mason Bernstein & Jack Cullington 2 & 1, Max Weaver & Jack Cardy halved with Jon Baker-Odin & George Morris
Singles- Halil lost to Bates 2 down, Hall beat Cullington 5 & 4, Sayers lost to Terry 2 & 1, Nicholls beat Baker-Odin 3 & 2, Wright lost to Bernstein 1 down, Weaver lost to Clark 4 & 2, Spraggs halved with White, Cardy lost to Morris 7 & 5
