U14s Meet BB&O and Kent In League Final

U14s MEET BB&0 AND KENT IN LEAGUE FINAL

After a first year of league golf the U14’s went to West Essex to face Kent and B, B and O in the final which was played with 10 players per team. The team pictured right is

Back Row: Ian Woodhead, Scott Carr, Finley Edwards, George Bailey, Ethan McCleary, James Sadler, Charlie Sadler

Front Row: Lucas Bond, Max Elliott, Jacob Severn, Hugh Oliver, Will Cobbald

The Saturday practice went well with a hole in one for William Cobbold who is pictured below.

The boys performed to the best of their abilities but unfortunately came up short against two far stronger sides. Our boys won 4 of their 20 matches but all enjoyed their day. Kent won the cup 15.5 wins to BB&O 10.5 wins.

Will Cobbald won both of his matches and Finley Edwards and Max Elliott won a game each against BB&O.

Speaking after the final manager Ian Woodhead said that the improvements that we have made this year have been clear to see, and the handicaps our boys have got down to, has been admirable, but we need more if we are going to produce a team to compete at this level. We need more boys to choose from and the boys need to play more match play and on different courses, with more specialised coaching.

After thanks coach Charlie Sadler who has been with the team on all matches this year Ian went on to say that the under 14’s and 12’s will hold their trials at Culford on the 6th October and I hope that we can go from strength to strength at this younger level.

The work that Simon Byford and the other coaches have put into the hubs has been invaluable and must carry on in the years to come to ensure that we have a wider choice of boys and girls to choose the Suffolk coaching squads from.
