Suffolk Under 16’s began their 2021 SEG Under 16 League Campaign at Three Rivers Golf Club

On Sunday the 30th of May Suffolk U16’s played their first match of the season against Essex and Norfolk in the South East Group League at Three Rivers Golf Club in Essex.

Suffolk fielded a very young team with 7 of the 8 players making their U16 debut. Despite our inexperience we played well beating Norfolk 7 points to 1. Essex had an incredibly strong side with handicaps ranging from +1 to 2. We fought hard and battled to the end but we lost out to Essex 2 points to 6 but at times it was much closer than that.

Top performer on the day was Callum Pearce who was the only player to beat both Essex and Norfolk. Henry Meadows made a very strong start to his U16 campaign by beating Norfolk and halving with Essex and Reuben Harvey also scored 1.5 points only narrowly missing out to Essex on the last hole. Harry Brinded gave a very good captain’s performance.

Match 2 of the league is at Barnham Broom and it’s vital that we secure full points if we want to progress to the final.
