SUFFOLK U14’S WIN TRIANGULAR TROPHY

SUFFOLK U14’S WIN TRIANGULAR TROPHY

The annual triangular match between Suffolk, Norfolk, and Cambridgeshire was held at Fynn Valley Golf Club on Sunday 25th June.

The morning 9 hole foursomes saw the boys playing in groups of six, with matches being played against Norfolk and Cambridgeshire at the same time. The course was firm, and the dry sunny conditions made for interesting and skilful approach shots around the greens.

At lunch time Suffolk had 6 points, Cambridgeshire 4 and Norfolk 2.

After lunch, the boys played 18 hole singles, again in groups of three. The soaring temperatures and stiffening breeze made the course a greater test than in the morning, with Suffolk winning the singles with 10.5 points, Norfolk 7, and Cambridgeshire 6.5 points.

The final score was Suffolk 16.5, Cambridgeshire 10.5 and Norfolk 9.

Congratulations go to 4 players with maximum points on the day; Finlay Edwards, Ethan McCleary, George McLellan and Max Elliot.

Jacob Severn, the Suffolk Junior Captain on the day, received the Triangular Shield from the Suffolk Junior Secretary, Mike Olding.

Special thanks go to Fynn Valley Golf Club and their members for letting us play at the club and their excellent hospitality and food.
