Sam Forgan is Suffolk Open Champion

The Suffolk Open Championship was played at Newton Green Golf Club on Sunday 11th September. 40 players took part.

Play was delayed due to early morning fog with play reverting to a shotgun start after the players had drawn for tees.

Sam Forgan, a professional attached to Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club, shot a 7 under par 62 in his morning round, a new course record, which saw him 8 shots clear of Ben Mason (Flempton) Andrew Moss (Bury St Edmunds) and  Tim Cooper (Professional at Newton Green) who all carded 70’s.

Forgan added a 3 under par 66 in the afternoon to finish on 128- 10 under par and take the Suffolk Open Title and Faraday Cup. He was 11 shots ahead of second placed Adrian Meredith (Hintlesham) who added an afternoon 67 to his morning round of 72 to finish on 139. Meredith took the Easterbrook Trophy awarded to the leading amateur.

Graham Wardley (Felixstowe Ferry) 72-68-140 took third spot on count back from Will Wright (Aldeburgh) 71-69-140

Tom Wake (Ufford Park) had the best nett score finishing on 133 from Thomas King (Newton Green on 136. The best morning gross went to Ben Mason (Flempton) on count back with a 70 and the best afternoon gross to Ben Coleman (Bury St Edmunds) with 71.
