Fricker is Matchplay Champion

The Suffolk Amateur Matchplay Championship was held at Stowmarket Golf Club on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June, with the participants qualifying by virtue of their finish in the Suffolk Amateur Championship.

In the opening round George Fricker was taken to the 3rd extra hole before he overcame Chris Vince (Haverhill) He defeated his 2nd round opponent Matthew Lockwood (Stowmarket) 4 & 3 before being taken to the 2nd extra hole in his Semi-Final match against Wayne Jaques (Halesworth). 

Josh Driver (Diss) had a walk over in Round 1 following Alfie Halil’s late withdrawal. He defeated Jed Seeley (Newton Green 4 & 2 in round 2 before reaching the final with a i hole victory over Marc Duszynski (Ipswich).

Fricker became the Suffolk Matchplay Champion defeating Driver 5 & 4 in the final. Pictured is County President, Bill Darling with George Fricker with the Presidents Mashie and runner up Josh Driver.
