Close Call In The Tom Finn

CLOSE CALL IN THE TOM FINN

The U16s traveled to Gog Magog Golf Club on Sunday the 8th of September to play in annual Tom Finn Trophy. The weather held and the course was in absolutely fantastic condition.

Soft greens led pins being peppered and a birdie fest from all teams with par rarely being enough to win a hole. It was a close contest that came down to the last 2 matches on the course with Suffolk needing to win the final 2 holes in both games to take the victory. The phrase “unlucky” is used far too much in golf but in this case it was justified. The 17th hole was the undoing for both boys with each hitting down the edge of the fairway only to loose sight of the ball in the evening sun resulting in lost balls and the match all over.

Congratulations to Cambridgeshire for winning the trophy.

The final scores Cambridgeshire 21, Suffolk 15, Leicestershire 12
