Woodward Markwell Race to Aldeburgh

The finals of the Woodward Markwell Race to Aldeburgh (Order of Merit) was held at Aldeburgh Golf Club on Sunday 20th October. 39 players were invited to participate and it was extremely disappointing that only 26 chose to do so.

the competition was played over 18 holes with Sam Byford (Ipswich|) winning after a play off with Josh Driver (Diss) and James Reiss (Aldeburgh) all 3 players returning 71.s. Tyler Weaver (Bury St Edmunds) was 4th after shooting 72 with James Tyler (Ipswich) Joe Ford (Southwold) and Max Weaver (Bury St Edmunds) all shooting 73.

Joe Ford (Southwold) returned the best nett score of 68 from Josh Driver (Diss) 69 and Tyler and Max Weaver (Bury St Edmunds) both 70.

The points gained from winning the competition saw Sam Byford take the Dick Berendt Salver with a total of 560 points from James Reiss on 447 and Will Wright (Aldeburgh) 360. The Junior Order of Merit (David Houston Salver) was won by Max Weaver and the Seniors Salver by Simon Bearman (Newton Green)
