Junior Open Series
2026
The Suffolk Golf Union alongside the Suffolk Ladies County Golf Association, started the Junior Open Series a few years ago and 2026 will be the fourth year. All fixture dates are detailed below.
Designed to help promote the growth of junior golf within the county for both boys and girls.
Not only does it encourage golfers to engage with other like minded youngsters, it will help their development on and off the golf course by offering a platform to enjoy, compete, improve and develop their personal attributes within a safe and friendly environment.
2025 Series
The 2025 season is over and the last Junior Open was played at Bury St Edmunds Golf Club on Sunday 7th September with an excellent field of 47 players taking part!
The weather was kind again and Bury St Edmunds, always a good test of golf continued the year with some more very good scores being posted.
In the scratch competition, local player Johnathan Points meant business – He won the scratch competition with an excellent gross 75 and so took the maximum points in The Open Series. He therefore wins the Boys scratch category in the 2025 Junior Open Series, with his sister winning the Girls scratch category. Very well done to Johnathan.
Whilst Dexter Vass (Stowmarket) and Caleb Whitear (Bungay & Waveney Valley) won the Stableford tournaments at Bury St Edmunds, they couldn`t catch the leader in the Junior Open Series net competition and that goes to Herbie Shaw-Clutten (Gorleston) who has been consistent throughout the year.
No change at the top of the Girls competitions with Jasmine Points (Bury St Edmunds) having taken the scratch prize this year – It`s been a good year for the family. Imogen Potter takes the net prize, which as mentioned, is the second time in recent years.
Our huge thanks go to all competitiors and the clubs for the support in 2025, and our congratulations to the winners.
