The Felixstowe Stenon run continues

Felixstowe Ferry's amazing run in the Stenson Shield continues as they overcame the hurdle of an away tie at Ipswich on a hot dusty day. With the score 2 - 2 at lunch a 6 -2 win in the singles gave them a comfortable sound win but it was much tighter than the score suggests.

Felixstowe will play Woodbridge in the semifinal, a repeat of the final from the last two years. Southwold, encouraged by the presence of Reuben Harvey gave their hosts a tough day. Again it was 2 - 2 at lunch. In the end a have from captain Simon Peckford got Woodbridge to the required 6.5 pts for the narrowest of wins.

The local derby between Flempton and Bury St Edmunds was also 2 - 2 at lunch. Bury St Edmunds won the first 5 singles for comfortable success running out winners by 8 -4.

Bury St Edmunds will meet Stowmarket in the final. To complete a full house there was a score of 2 - 2 at lunch. While all the matches were very close Stowmarket won the singles 5 - 3 for a 7 -5 score line.

The semi-finals will be on Saturday 22nd August with venues to be announced in due course.
