The Suffolk U12 county team had a brilliant final day of the season last Sunday, beating Norfolk and Cambridgeshire at Mattishall Golf Club.
2026 is the first year that the three counties have held a league for this age group, having previously played at St Audrys Golf Club and Ely City Golf Club earlier in the summer. In this event, we play 8 in a team, Stableford scoring, with the best 6 scores counting for the overall total on the day.
Ben Sausman, our U12 Team Manager, said that from the moment the team arrived at Mattishall, the discussion was all about playing as a team, acting as a unit and advising that County golf is a team sport. This certainly worked and our lads came home to win the last event of the year, which is a wonderful achievement for the players to finish on a high.
Overall, Norfolk took the league trophy for the year and congratulations to them. They have proved a challenge to beat this year but we`ll come back stronger in 2027!
