Anglian Match Day 4
Two wins at last...
Anglian league match day 4 saw the first team travelling to St Neots Golf Club to face Cambridgeshire whist the second team would host at their old fortress, Diss GC.
A healthy start and a good morning all around had been greatly anticipated and much needed after a slightly lacklustre league campaign so far, but Suffolk finally got the morning they wanted. Pairings of Jack Cardy & Reuben Harvey, Patrick Coffey & Sam Renville and Russell Oakey & Dan Hedges saw the first team 3-1 up at the break. Meanwhile at Diss, the picture was similar. Taylor Crisp & Connor Talbot, Jimmy Price & Louis Sturman and Dom Rudd & Harry Brinded all managed a point whilst Chris Bartrum & junior debutant Dylan Cook added another half.
A commanding morning home and away was slightly muted by an injury to Gregor Tait who after being struck by an errant drive was unable to continue and therefore had to sacrifice his afternoon point letting the cambs first team back in. Fortunately for the first team though, there was enough strength to get over the line. Reuben Harvey and Patrick Coffey took care of their points, Sam Renville grabbed a half and Dan Hedges finished it off on the last green to take care of Suffolk’s first win this season. 6.5 - 5.5.
The second team made sure there was far less drama, whilst Cambs managed to steal half a point in match 1, the next 6 points went Suffolks way. Talbot, Bartrum, Rudd, Cook, Sturman and Price all won their matches to secure an emphatic 10-2 home win.
Well done to all - Suffolk back to winning ways.
