Suffolk Scratch Team Championship 2026

This event requires a team of three players from each club to represent them on the day with their scores all combining to see who can post the lowest team score.

A fabulous Saturday afternoon around a well kept but very tricky golf course provided opportunity for scoring to be just about anything but predictable. Hintlesham’s Connor Talbot lead the way shooting a (-2) 67 and showing the field what could be done as he took the days individual prize. Stowmarket’s James O’Doherty matched that score just losing on count back. Patrick Coffey of Woodbridge also broke 70 on the day with a level par 69. But no matter how well a player scores, his fate is in the hands of his team mates.

The Woodbridge team with Patricks 69 already in managed a total +14 for the team and for some time they held a club house lead. James O’Doherty’s Stowmarket side couldn’t capitalise on his great score and nor could Talbot’s Hintlesham.

Ipswich Golf Club were the next team to take over the club house lead, Marc Duszynski (70), Jonathan Day (78) and Daniel Hedges (71) made a +12 total for the remaining teams to chase.

The Ipswich total was a good one and with the scores in the only realistic chase would be from Bury St Edmunds. Russell Oakey’s 70 was followed by Sam Renville’s 72 meaning the last man on the course, Craig Nurse needed to shoot anything better than +9. His team mates never doubted him and rightly so, Craig carded a 72 and finalised the deal. Bury St Edmund’s are the 2026 Suffolk Scratch Team Champions - Congratulations!
