It was a day that had everything but ended in stalemate. Suffolk held the upper hand at lunch after the morning foursomes with a 3 - 2 scoreline. By lunch time the temperature had reached 32 and to be honest it was unbelievably hot. The afternoon singles were played in the most difficult of conditions and it was a credit to both teams that the match was played out.

Not a day for picking out individuals but suffice to say that the score ended at 7.5 playing 7.5 and an honourable draw. An exhausted captain Graham Sykes stated from the coolness of the clubhouse that it was probably a fair result and that he was very tired.
