Junior Open Series
2026
The Suffolk Golf Union alongside the Suffolk Ladies County Golf Association, started the Junior Open Series a few years ago and 2026 will be the fourth year. All fixture dates are detailed below.
Designed to help promote the growth of junior golf within the county for both boys and girls.
Not only does it encourage golfers to engage with other like minded youngsters, it will help their development on and off the golf course by offering a platform to enjoy, compete, improve and develop their personal attributes within a safe and friendly environment.
2026 Series
So the season is well and truly under way. Two Junior Open`s this week in the start of many during the school holidays.
Firstly, Stowmarket Golf Club held theirs last Monday, the course in fine condition, even with the very hot weather in the recent weeks.
Local player, Henry Ridgeon from Stowmarket, took both the gross and net honours with a round of 71 gross, 67 net, with Imogen Potter (Diss), also taking both gross and net points in The Series.
Then to Aldeburgh on Wednesday and again the weather is playing a big part in our golf at present, with conditions here being windy, and also tricky to control the ball on these incredibly dry days.
Whilst Jake Gunby won the event with a gross 73, being a Norfolk player, he does not qualify for The Series, so Johnathan Points (Bury St Edmunds) takes the points with a gross 76. In the Net Series, our young county squad player from Flempton, Josh Challicom, won the points with a fine net 67.
For the Girls, Shannon Noble won with another fine score of gross 75, and with a net 70, also takes the Net Series points.
So, after those two Open`s, Johnathan Points pushes forward his lead, but with the net being wide open, Jack Johnson (Bramford Golf Centre) maintains his first position at the top.
In the Girls`, no change. Imogen Potter still at the top with Abigail Hope (Bungay & Waveney Valley) leading the net.
