Suffolk Under 14’s v Norfolk and Cambridgeshire

Suffolk Under 14’s hosted a triangular match with Norfolk and Cambridgeshire at Halesworth Golf Club on Sunday 7th July. The match format was teams of 8 playing 9 holes foursomes in the morning followed by 18 holes singles in the afternoon.

In the morning foursomes Henry Meadows and Harry Brinded won 2 & 1 against Norfolk and halved their game with Cambridgeshire.Jack Rust and Josh Hembling beat Norfolk 5 & 3 but lost 2 & 1 to Cambridgeshire. Callum Pearce and Charlie Goodridge halved their game with Cambridgeshire but went down by 2 & 1 to Norfolk whilst Rueben Harvey and Fraser Johnson lost both their games 2 & 1. 

In the afternoon singles Meadows lost both games 2 & 1, Brinded won both 2 & 1, Johnson won 4 & 3 (Norfolk) and lost 2 & 1, Harvey lost 2 & 1 and won 2 & 1, Pearce lost 2 & 1 and 6 & 5, Goodridge won 5 & 4 and 6 & 5, Rust won 6 & 5 and 5 & 4 and Hembling won both his games 3 & 2.

Final scores for the day being Cambridgeshire 15, Suffolk 13 and Norfolk 8

The match was played in excellent spirit by all the competitors and the conduct of the players on and off the course was exemplary, which attracted a number of favourable comments from County Officials and members of staff at Halesworth Golf Club.
