Junior Anglian League Qualifier

A strong Cambridgeshire boys team won the Eastern Qualifier of the Junior Anglian League at the Cambridge Bar Hill Golf Club by beating Suffolk and Norfolk. They now go on to play the winners of the Western Qualifier.
The morning foursomes was crucial with a whitewash for Cambridgeshire, beating both Suffolk and Norfolk by 4 – 0. Norfolk beat Suffolk by 2 1/2 to 1 1/2.
Suffolk boys performed much better in the afternoon singles, drawing 4 – 4 with Cambridgeshire and beating Norfolk by 5 – 3. Cambridgeshire beat Norfolk 6 – 2.
Final scores: Cambridgeshire 18, Suffolk 10 1/2, Norfolk 7 1/2.
Rookery Park pair of Josh Altham and Harvey Fisher were Suffolk’s best performers, scoring 5 points by beating Norfolk in the foursomes and both players winning their matches in the singles. Harry Brinded and Jack Rust scored half a point by beating Norfolk in the foursomes and Reuben Harvey and Harry Brinded won both their singles matches. Callum Hughes scored Suffolk’sother point by winning his singles against Norfolk.
