English Men’s Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship for the Brabazon Trophy

The English Men’s Open Amateur Stroke play Championship for the Brabazon Trophy was played at Sherwood Forest Golf Club from the 18th to 21st August. 144 competitors took part which included three Suffolk players. The competition is a 72 hole event with a cut after 36 holes, the top 60 players +ties progressing to the final 36 holes.

All three Suffolk players made the cut. Habebul Islam (Ipswich) carded rounds of 69,70,74,74 for a 3 over par total of 287 which saw him finish T41st. James Biggs (Diss) returned 69,73,73,71 for a 2 over par total of 286 T36th whilst Gregor Tait (Aldeburgh scored 70,72,67,75 for a level par total of 284 T20th.

There was a three way tie on 274- 10 under par- David Ravetto (France) Christoffer Bring (Naestved Golf Club and Mark Power, Kilkeeny Golf Club. Ravetto took the title after a sudden death play off.
